Laura Dean Keeps Breaking Up With Me is a queer coming-of-age graphic novel co-created with Mariko Tamaki and published by First Second in 2019. It follows Frederica “Freddy” Riley throughout her struggles with her on-again, off-again relationship with the eponymous Laura Dean, and the story dedicates itself to queer love and heartbreak in all its forms, from romantic to platonic to all shades in between. Since its publication, Laura Dean has received two Eisner awards, 3 Ignatz awards, a Harvey award, and a Prism award, as well as starred reviews from Publisher’s Weekly, Kirkus, Booklist, BCCB, and Horn Book. In January 2020 it was named a Printz Honor Book, and has been written about in publications such as Forbes, The Washington Post, NPR, and The A.V. Club.
